Why a Documentary on the modern history of tattooing in Australia?

I've been a professional photographer in Sydney for 10 years and when I first started shooting for myself one of the very first personal projects I shot was of people with tattoos at the Sydney Tatto Expo... I've always been fascinated by the different meanings people place on the tattoos they get and the reasons for getting a tattoo, whether it is to mark a life event, remember a loved one that has passed or because they love getting tattoos and are collecting work from different artists...making photos around something that interests you always means you create compelling work, over the next few years I continued photographing people attending tattoo shows and in the last year or so, I started thinking about a film project to take on and a documentary telling the story of the modern history of tattooing in Australia is a story that's begging to be told and I am seeking to do the story justice by interviewing key figures in the Australian tattoo industry and tell the story in an engaging and entertaining way that educates and perhaps inspires.
